Munchkin Meadows Ranch began over 10 years ago as a passion for small, lovable livestock and has grown into something truly special. What started as a simple idea has evolved into a carefully developed micro ranch focused on raising miniature animals with gentle, social personalities and unique charm.

Over the years, we have selectively bred our animals with a strong emphasis on temperament. Our goal has always been to raise animals that are not only small in size, but also friendly, calm, and enjoyable to be around. We are proud to say that our miniature Shetland sheep are among the smallest and sweetest you will find, with several even making their home at the Oakland Zoo petting yard.

The ranch itself was shaped by a desire to enjoy livestock in a more manageable and rewarding way. While larger animals like horses are beautiful, they can come with greater risks and physical demands. That realization led to a focus on miniature livestock, starting with miniature horses and eventually expanding into alpacas and sheep.

Today, alpacas are a valued part of the ranch. Known for their calm nature and ease of care, they bring a quiet presence with their curious personalities, long necks, and expressive eyes. They require minimal maintenance compared to other livestock and integrate naturally into the rhythm of the ranch.

Our miniature Shetland sheep, however, have truly become the heart of Munchkin Meadows. Carefully selected and bred for smaller size and exceptional temperament, these sheep are as affectionate as they are charming. They are easy to manage, social by nature, and thrive in both pasture settings and interactive environments.

As the ranch has grown, so has the opportunity to share these animals with others. We offer select animals to individuals and families looking to add miniature livestock to their lives, whether for companionship, land management, or simply the joy of owning something unique. Many of our sheep have found homes with people who appreciate their gentle nature, from hobby farmers to fiber artists and animal lovers alike.

What makes these animals especially enjoyable is their balance of independence and connection. They welcome attention and interaction, yet are perfectly content grazing peacefully when left on their own. With a simple call across the pasture, they come running, making daily care both easy and rewarding.
